«Kolyska» in Ukrainian means cradle, home (place of origin, birth of the new) and swing.

Because of the war, four young Ukrainian artists, Vicki Berg, Sofia
Golubeva, Aglaia Nogina, and Anastasia Pasichnyk were forced to leave their homeland in 2022.

they continue to create intensively, although their goal is to return as soon as possible.
To return as soon as possible.The Kurt Muhlenhaupt Museum invited artists who are members of the UCC (Ukrainian Cultural Community) to show their work.

Paintings, graphics, installations and carpet art will be featured. Their work, which
were created under the impression of the war and the refugee situation in Berlin,
will be juxtaposed with photographs by German photographer Simon Koy, which depict untouched
(landscapes, daily life, architecture and portraits) before the war.

Kintsugi is a traditional method of restoring ceramics and porcelain. Its feature is to emphasize the traces of wrinkles with gold or silver paint, instead of completely hiding them, thereby forming a kind of «golden scars»
This concept resonates with young Ukrainian art today, because artists focus on problems and traumas, instead of silencing them and masking them under a thick layer. Working in bomb shelters or in forced emigration, in a state of lack of materials and under the emotional pressure of news, they continue to reflect on one of the greatest tragedies of modern Europe.

NATIONENCODE

Ukrainische Kulturfestival «Nationencode»

Das Ukrainische Kulturfestival «Nationencode» fördert die ukrainische Kunst und die jetzt in Berlin lebenden ukrainischen Künstler:innen. Im Rahmen des Festivals werden sie ihre kreative Arbeit zeigen und gemeinsam mit Künstlerinnen aus anderen Ländern kulturelle Brücken bauen.

Auf dem Programm stehen Auftritte ukrainischer, deutscher, französischer, australischer und amerikanischer Musiker:innen sowie eine Kunstausstellung mit Werken bekannter ukrainischer Maler:innen, die auch käuflich erworben werden können. Außerdem darf sich das Publikum auf traditionelle ukrainische Speisen und Getränke freuen.

Die Ausstellung der Künstler wird von der Organisation UCC (Ukrainian Cultural Community) unterstützt @ucc_berlin

Der Verein LaruHelpsUkraine e.V. sammelt Spenden, um die Menschen in der Ukraine und in den Erdbeben-Gebieten in der Türkei und in Syrien zu unterstütze

TESTAMENT OF BUCHA

At the center of the installation is a shot-up, burnt-out passenger car in which four civilians attempting to flee Bucha were killed by the Russian army. The scene of this damaged car contrasts with the clean surroundings of the Kurfürstendamm, confronting visitors with the reality of war and the daily struggle of Ukrainians.

The “Testament of Bucha” exhibition documents the war crimes committed against the civilian population of Bucha and against civilians in occupied areas of the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions of Ukraine. The destroyed car is a painful reminder of the ongoing war on the European continent, that is putting our democracies at risk, again! The cultural and educational charity event “Testament of Bucha” is a Ukrainian-German collaboration, the purpose of which is to draw the attention of German and European society to the events in Ukraine. To tell the truth about the war, to show the atrocities of the Russian army and to convey a better understanding of this without Russian interference and disinformation. In its immobility, this car, as a fragment of war, is intended to express the injustice, brutality, and crimes of Russia in Ukraine.

TESTAMENT OF HANNA

The cultural and educational event «Testament of Bucha» has been commemorating the horrors of war in Berlin’s George Grosz Square at an exhibition which opened on August 22nd. At the centre of the installation is a shot-up, burnt-out car in which four female civilians trying to escape from Bucha were killed by the Russian army. One of them was 14-year-old Hanna Mishchenko. Before her murder, the cheerful Hanna loved to draw and paint whenever she could. Therefore, the «Testament of Bucha» organisers, are hosting a charity sale of Hanna’s paintings  in the rooms of the UCC.
